Microphone floor well

Placing microphones in floor wells can create acoustic, technical, and visual challenges. Therefore, Stouenborg, in collaboration with EBB Consult, has developed a microphone floor well that solves a wide range of challenges with reflections and resonance that can occur down in the well itself, which can cause phase shifts and affect the clarity and precision of the sound. At the same time, the well is made of materials that provide optimal attenuation of external noise and the sounds that propagate through a floor when you move across it.
The microphone floor is characterized well, among other things, by the fact that there are no parallel surfaces in it, which ensures an optimal frequency response and thus provides an authentic sound reproduction. It is also discreet, easily accessible and designed so that cables can be easily routed to and from the well. This makes it easy to maintain and replace microphones, and with a well-thought-out cable entry, you avoid both damaging cables and visually having to put up with cables that are inconveniently sticking up from the floor.
The design features a discreet and robust top covering that visually blends in well with the surroundings and makes the well highly resistant to stress. This is an advantage in fixed installations in architecturally sensitive environments or in theatres where the technology should preferably be hidden and where a lot of wear can be expected.
The idea for a custom-designed microphone floor well arose in connection with a project at Örebro University, where there was a need to create a unique solution for the installation of a Meyer Sound Constellation system. The ceiling height in an auditorium presented acoustic challenges with the placement of floor microphones that could not be solved with the types of floor wells that were already available on the market. Since then, the solution has proven to be extremely useful in many other contexts and has therefore become a permanent element in the range of special solutions that Stouenborg offers its customers.

Like the Microphone Floor Well, Stouenborg has also designed and produced other products, which you can see more of on the Stouenborg design page.
