The Aarhus School of Architecture is a good example of a new interpretation of a learning environment that encourages creativity.

When the School of Architecture was to move to a new location, it was apparent to rethink how modern technology could work with learning in new ways and integrate it into teaching. The desire was to create a flexible and dynamic learning environment that, in addition to lectures and teaching, could host exhibitions, debates, mini-concerts, etc.

Stouenborg, in collaboration with the School of Architecture and the A.P. Møllerske Støttefond, has worked with sound, lighting, and AV in the Auditorium, the multifunctional room Didakteket, and the school's nine Criticism Rooms.

The Auditorium features a spectacular ultra-wide projection screen and a Meyer Sound Constellation sound system, which, with its unique “Voice Lift,” modifies the reverberation time so that it is not necessary to use microphones on speakers or questioners from the hall. The acoustics can also be modified so that the entire room is divided into listening zones that are specially adapted for group sessions around round tables. At the same time, the system can simulate different acoustic conditions and thus be used in teaching to give students an understanding of the importance of acoustics for different types of rooms.

The Didakteket is separated only by folding doors. It functions as an independent room but can be combined with the Auditorium for larger events. The Didakteket is a visual workspace that, with its fixed light rig, is also suitable for exhibitions. Screens can be lowered from all four walls, allowing for 360-degree presentations and visualizations.

All installations run on a shared network, which provides unimaginable opportunities for organizing events across the premises. All technology is controlled through Creston touch panels, which are easy and intuitive to operate. To increase user-friendliness, all Criticism Rooms are equipped identically with built-in computers and AV for use in teaching and meetings.

Several of Stouenborg's specially designed products, including an AV table and a projector noise box, were used for the project.
