Absalon - Culture House

With the idea of creating a place for the people, the Lajboschitz family purchased Absalon Church in central Vesterbro in 2015 and converted it into a modern cultural center to benefit the district's local communities.
Over the years, the Absalon Folk House has provided the setting for thousands of events, ranging from pottery courses, baby yoga and croquis to disco parties and live music.
Absalon Church is located in a densely populated area and is built alongside a residential building. Therefore, Stouenborg focused on avoiding noise nuisance for the neighbors and user-friendliness when providing advice and a total solution for the sound systems for all the rooms in the building.
The choice fell on an ultra-flexible system that the building's users can efficiently operate via push panels mounted around the building. This makes it easy to switch from one event to another quickly, which is practical when events run every day of the week from morning to evening.
At the same time, all rooms are connected, so you can easily send sound from one room to another via a central control unit. This also makes it possible to create events involving multiple rooms – or the entire house simultaneously, if you want.
Column speakers from Meyer Sound were chosen for the installation in the house's main hall, which previously functioned as a church room. They are characterized by playing forward, which allows the sound to be controlled very precisely and thus does not penetrate the apartments behind, even at relatively high sound levels. The placement of the subwoofers and their vibration-damping suspension has also been focused on to avoid bass vibrations in the adjacent buildings.
The column speakers blend naturally and discreetly into the building's spectacular architecture with their compact size. In addition to high speech intelligibility, the sound system also delivers a loud enough sound level to fill the main hall of the building when DJs and live bands visit the venue, without disturbing the neighbors' sleep at night, of course.

In addition to this exciting project we have done with Folkehuset Absalon, we have acted as integrators for several other projects. You can read more about the work we did at The Falconer Hall, among other things, or see a complete overview of them here.
