Frederikssund museum

Small places can hold big stories. This is the case, for example, in Frederikssund, where a small red farm by Roskilde Fjord contains an important story about life by the fjord from ancient times to the present day – from the people of the past who sought the fjord to find the food they needed to survive and sail further into the world, to the people of today for whom the fjord's nature is the attraction.
Frederikssund Museum has been housed in the Jægerspris Ferry Yard since 1839, and the site itself is a piece of history. A ferry yard has been on the site since 1559, but archaeological finds indicate that there has actually been ferry traffic on the site as far back as the 4th century.
In 2016, the museum was temporarily closed in connection with a major renovation, where Stouenborg and several creative collaborators, including sound designers from the Royal Danish Theatre, were called in to make the museum's presentation more vivid and present. For example, you can try the interactive fjord simulator, where you can turn back and forth in time and see how much the fjord has changed over the last 10,000 years - or delve into a wide range of archaeological finds, each of which contributes to the local historical story of the fjord and the life around it.
Stouenborg has supplied sound, lighting, and AV for the permanent exhibition at the site and has also been responsible for the installation itself. As the building is listed, several special solutions have been required.
Thus, the historical setting has not only created the premise for what has been technically possible but also played an important role in the actual staging and design of the exhibition. This has also meant that all cable routing and the placement of projectors and lights have had to be carefully thought out from the start, as the setting has set its limitations. The system is designed so simply that everything can be turned on and off with just a single button.
