Helsingør Culture Yard
Right out at Helsingørs harbor with a view all the way to Sweden is Helsingør Kulturværft. The local cultural center is a tribute to Helsingørs maritime history, and the iconic building is in every way inspired by the maritime environment in which it is located – from the name to the buildings architecture, which imitates a ships sails.
The former shipyard was transformed into a cultural center in 2010 under AV advisor Bent Lohman, and Stouenborg won the task through the public tender by delivering the best quality at a reasonable price. The project was a collaboration with the architectural firm AART, which was responsible for the design of the building itself, and Gobo Highlight, which supplied the lighting installations. Stouenborg himself was responsible for all sound installations and the rest of the new technology that was installed.
In just 2 ½ months, Stouenborg had a completely new and extensive infrastructure installed in the building, including sound and, as always, a tangle of cables running throughout the house. Today, the Kulturværftet functions as a cultural gathering place in North Zealand and houses everything from a museum and cafe to various festivals and concerts.
The cultural yard stands as something very special in Stouenborgs history because it is one of our first major projects that kick-started the type of work that Stouenborg is known for delivering today. Together with Den Blå Planet, Helsingør Kulturværft marks the start of Stouenborgs development into the company we are today.
