Floor Well

The standard floor drain solutions available on the market are often complex for AV equipment, as the cables and connectors used in the event and AV industry do not necessarily fit in traditional electrician floor drains. AV connectors often take up more space than power connectors, which means that most floor drains are not deep enough to allow the connectors to be inserted and the lid closed while the drain is in use.
During the construction of new auditoriums at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus School of Architecture, the design of floor wells for AV purposes needed to be rethought, as both projects included a number of technical installations and had specific requirements for their appearance. This resulted in Stouenborg developing two different types of floor wells that can be easily adapted to specific project needs and integrated into different floor types.
Both floor wells have been developed to maintain industry standards within the event industry and support the plug types typically used in this industry. The plugs are angled so that the lid can remain closed when the cables are connected. This minimizes the risk of the sockets filling with dirt and thus provides optimal protection for the plugs. At the same time, it creates a more aesthetic expression that is particularly advantageous in auditoriums, offices, conference and meeting rooms as well as listed buildings, where it is important that the technical installations are as discreet as possible.

One type of floor drain is designed explicitly for low-floor constructions down to 36 mm. This solution also supports the AV connector types common in the event industry and is particularly suitable for use in listed buildings, for example, where there are limited possibilities to change the floor height significantly.
Since Stouenborg produces both types of floor drains, it is possible to change the shape and adapt the floor drains to specific dimensions, sizes, and contents so that they perfectly suit the purpose of the project and the floor constructions in question. This also makes choosing a cover matching the existing floor possible.
The floor well is used on projects such as LIFE Campus, Mærsk Tower, and Aarhus School of Architecture.

We have also designed and produced several other products related to project preparation. In the category with this floor well is, among other things, our microphone floor well, which you can read more about here.
